Project Description:

I am from Huddersfield and have graduated from the University of Leeds with an MEng (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 2020. Currently undertaking my PhD as part of the Sustainable Electric Propulsion CDT, sponsored by CSA Catapult and the EPSRC. My research will be highlighting Zero Voltage Switching in automotive motor drives. The aim is to design, build and test two 50kW 600V SiC MOSFET motor drives. One with a traditional hard-switched commutation and the other using additional parts to achieve zero voltage switching. I will be assessing the control complexity, size, reliability, and other factors for both methods.
