At Earthslides we can produce thin sections of ceramics and lithics for petrographic analysis, and thin sections of archaeological sediments in a range of sizes. We can provide a full service from sample collection, through slide preparation and analysis, and offer commerical and collaborative services. 

The prices below are an estimate of a per sample costs for our standard technical service - the exact costs may vary depending on the nature of the samples, whether any additional preparation (e.g. acetone replacement) is needed, and the required turnaround time.

Additional services including field assessment, sample collection and analysis for commercial projects is charged at a daily rate of £525 (ex VAT) plus expenses. Analysis includes a written report with descriptive tables and full colour images. This price in indicative only and may vary depending on the nature of the project. Collaborative research projects are costed on a per project basis. The cost will vary depending on the nature of the project and level of involvement required. Our director, Dr Lisa-Marie Shillito, has over 10 years' experience of research and collaborative work utilising sediment micromorphology and related methods, and can offer advice on all stages of the research process from planning the sampling strategy to writing grant applications.  For examples of previous collaborations please see here.
