Competition and Markets Authority investigation

From 2013 to 2015, the Competition and Markets Authority conducted an investigation into the payday lending market. This followed an initial consultation which highlighted varying levels of compliance by payday lenders, lack of cost transparency for customers and barriers to switching to alternative credit products.
