Daycare Center “Otradnoye”, Kharkiv, Ukraine (Social Service of Assistance)
There is a total of 120 students taking part in SOLE and they are separated into the following four groups: 1 group of children from Children’s Village “Otradnoye”, 1 group for children in Day Care Centre “Otradnoye” and 2 groups in school #52. Three teachers will be running SOLEs once or twice a week. In school #52 there is a special room provided by the school director and used only for SOLE purpose. Tables and chairs are located for group work and there are laptops for each group. The Internet is available, though sometimes there are problems with connection. Big questions focus on general issues and are not linked to specific school subjects
Day Care Center of Aspern, Kyiv, Ukraine
There are 40 students taking part and they are separated into 3 groups:
- 2 groups for children from the centre of psychosocial rehabilitation for children and social dormitory
- 1 group will start to work soon – for children of vulnerable families and children who visit the centre of professional integrated education
Two teachers are running SOLEs twice a week for each group. Laptops are available; however, for children of the centre of temporary psychosocial rehabilitation, a lot of SOLE sessions are being delivered with a focus on art. Big questions focus on general issues and are not linked to school subjects.
Day Care Centre “Stronger Together” Drohobych, Lviv region
Two teachers and 30 children are taking part in SOLEs once or twice a week and the sessions take place in a special room in the Caritas Drohobych building. Laptops are present at each session and sometimes there are art SOLE sessions without laptops. Big questions focus on general issues and are not linked to school subjects.
Medenychi School, Medenychi village, Drohobych rayon, Lviv region, Ukraine
There are 3 teachers and 40 students taking part in SOLE twice a week and they take place in a normal school classroom. In each session, laptops, PowerPoint presentations and the internet are used. In Program Year 1 teachers didn’t teach specific subject areas within SOLE, though some ‘big questions’ were linked to general school subjects. Recommendations were provided to link “big questions” to the school subjects in Program Year 2.
