New article: 'Navigating "the political"'

Newcastle Principal Investigator, Prof. Susannah Eckersley, and former postdoctoral researcher Dr Tadeusz Wojtych have recently published their open access article, 'Navigating "the political": The UK Museums Association and German Museumsbund (1994–2024)', in the Museum History Journal. 

This article utilises discourse analysis to investigate the professional publications of the UK Museums Association and the Deutscher Museumsbund, whose recent history and contemporary activity remains unexplored. The authors identify and analyse four socio-political themes raised by both organisations - (dis)ability and mental health; climate and environmental issues; diversity and migration; and colonialism and decolonisation - finding significant differences between the MA’s and the DMB’s political lobbying strategies.
