Prof. Anatoly Frenkel

• Professor of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering Stony Brook University

Anatoly Frenkel is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering at the Stony Brook University and a Senior Chemist (Joint Appointment) at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Prior to his appointment at SBU in 2016 he was Full Professor and Chair of Physics Department at Yeshiva University. He received M.Sc. degree from St. Petersburg University and Ph. D. degree from Tel Aviv University, followed by a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Washington.

His research focuses on development of in situ and operando synchrotron methods and their applications to a wide range of materials, as well as machine learning methods for structural analysis of nanocatalysts. He is a Principal Investigator for the Defense Synchrotron and Synchrotron Catalysis Consortia at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He is the author of over 400 publications.
