What is the BIO-FLARE study?

  • The BIOlogical Factors that Limit sustAined Remission in rhEumatoid arthritis (BIO-FLARE) study is a UK-based, multicentre, prospective single-arm experimental medicine study investigating the pathogenesis of flare in rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
  • The study is a collaboration between Newcastle University, University of Birmingham and the University of Glasgow.
  • The study involved complete cessation of conventional standard disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) in patients with RA who are in remission.
  • The study following up patients closely for 6 months or to the point of RA flare.
