ABOUT US
The Academic Primary and Community Care Unit is a virtual primary care unit hosted by Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP) academy
The unit encompasses members of the primary care team, led by a team of clinical and academic experts. The unit welcomes individuals with an interest in primary care research at all levels.
Our Vision
To advance primary care research by consolidating the existing expertise in both clinical and educational research regionally. We aim to foster a dynamic research environment, with multidisciplinary collaboration across primary and community care. Together, we strive to advance research in primary care to make a lasting impact to patient care and medical education throughout the region.
Key Objectives
Engage with influential bodies within the primary care research ecosystem from research generation and delivery to implementation.
Create both educational and clinical research opportunities for the wider primary care team and for those with an interest in primary care, whilst building on the success that already exists within the region.
Strengthen the clinical primary care academic workforce through the development of a clear academic pathway and mentoring from experts in primary care education and clinical research.
Disseminate accessible and impactful research generated within the region.
Collaborate in commercial and non-commercial research opportunities through signposting to existing expertise within the primary care team across the region.
