Professor Miles Witham appointed as NIHR CRN National Lead for Ageing.
The AGE Research Group’s Professor Miles Witham, Professor of Trials for Older People and Deputy Ageing Theme Lead for Ageing Syndromes with the NIHR Newcastle BRC, has been appointed as the National Speciality Lead for Ageing for the NIHR’s Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN).
In this role Miles aims to encourage more research studies involving as wide a range of older people as possible, by training and equipping more collaborators, using health informatics to streamline clinical research, and supporting methodological innovation in study delivery.
Miles comments: “I’m excited to be taking on this national leadership role. A thriving, effective CRN is a crucial link in the translational pipeline enabling discovery science to have a real impact on patient care. Taking forward the translational research that we conduct in the AGE research group and the NIHR Newcastle BRC depends on the research delivery platforms that the CRN provides, and I am looking forward to working with colleagues here in Newcastle and across the UK to build on the successful work of the Ageing CRN over the last few years”
