Catherine Dotchin joins the AGE Research Group as Clinical Senior Lecturer
We are delighted to announce that Dr Catherine Dotchin has joined the AGE Research Group.
Catherine brings to the Group a wealth of experience of research on ageing and diseases related to older people in diverse settings, and her clinical expertise as a consultant geriatrician in the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
In developing her research portfolio on ageing, sarcopenia and multiple long-term conditions Catherine will be drawing on her extensive experience of epidemiological work in Tanzania, research links with clinical and academic colleagues in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya and Ghana and her role in expanding ageing research trials at Northumbria Trust.
We are delighted that Catherine has also taken on the role of Research Capacity Development Lead for the AGE Research Group. This builds on her excellent track record of successfully supervising Master of Research Students completing Ageing and Global Health projects in Tanzania, and co-supervising PhD projects in Tanzania and Kenya. It also benefits from Catherine’s insights as a Foundation Tutor for Northumbria Trust, overseeing delivery of the Foundation curriculum, co-leading the annual review of competency and progression for foundation doctors in the Trust and clinical and educational supervision for doctors in training. She has also been module lead for an online “Prescribing in Older People” course at Newcastle University and contributed to the development of a Global Health Student-Selected Component (SSC) at Northumbria Trust and a clinical SSC in Acute Frailty.
