AGE group at 'Mind the Gap' Clinical Research Network Event

AGE group members Professor Miles Witham and Lorelle Dismore were in action at the NIHR North East and North Cumbria Clinical Research Network annual event last week. This years event was themed on 'Mind the Gap' - finding ways to tackle inequality in research delivery. Professor Witham led a workshop on targeting and engaging underserved groups (for instance older people, or people from socioeconomically deprived areas). Delegates considered which underserved groups were important to target in our geographical area, what actions to take to engage with these groups, and what tools and resources research delivery teams needed to make this happen. The results will help to inform both regional work and the national NIHR INCLUDE project, run from Newcastle to improve inclusion of underserved groups in research.
