Thea Coward

I’m currently a third year PhD student in the school of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials. I’m working on a challenging and important project to find an economical way to harvesting the algae from the growth medium for its use as a biodiesel feedstock. It seems I can’t get enough of Newcastle as also did my undergraduate in Marine Biology here! The crossover of schools has given me a strong multi-discipline background. Outside of academia I love to travel and explore. Throughout my summers I have worked in Tanzania and Madagascar working on conservation projects.
