My early, pre-university, career was spent initially working as an accountant and consultant in the UK and the USA. Having spent 10 years working for large organisations, in the following ten years I worked in a number medium size and start-up companies where we subsequently floated and or sold the company on to a trade buyer.
My main interests since joining Newcastle University have been centred around methodological issues associated with the use of stated preference methods to elicit economic preferences, experimental economics and decision making under risk and uncertainty. I have been a Co-Investigator on Framework 6 projects and also participated in research projects for the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the ESRC and am supervising an ESRC/HSE Collaborative PhD Studentship.
