Professor Jon Gluyas

Jon Gluyas is an ageing geologist who worked in the petroleum industry for 28 years and more recently academia for 10 years.  Jon worked around the globe for both major companies and start-ups ultimately specialising in production geology.  Since joining academia he has been trying to put some of that produced carbon back in the ground as the first professor appointed in geoenergy, carbon capture and storage.  He also works on geothermal energy and hopes by the time he retires to be heating many of our homes with near zero carbon geothermal energy won from abandoned and flooded coal mines.  When not trying to decarbonise heat Jon is also interested in human induced earthquakes and solving the global helium supply crisis.
