A final meeting of the project will be held in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK which will revisit the aims of the MedCHAMPS project and the cross links with RESCAP MED.

World Congress of Cardiology Scientific Sessions 2012

The WCC is the official congress of the World Heart Federation and is held once every two years to advance the mission of the WHF: to unite its members and lead the global fight against heart disease and stroke, with a focus on low-and middle-income countries.
MedCHAMPS Abstracts submitted for consideration are:

1. Health system challenges for management of cardiovascular disease burden in the Mediterranean, based on qualitative data from policy makers and health documents analysis.
2. Cardiovascular trends and effective policies in the Mediterranean, based on quantitative epidemiological trends in cardiovascular disease burden in the focus countries, and using modeling to assess the most cost effective policies.

Deliverable and report deadlines:

D6.1, Month 36: (31 August 2012) Report on effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of chosen policies and interventions in each study country (Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey) - ICPH, occupied Palestinian territory.

D6.2, Month 42: (31 August 2012) Evaluation and implementations plans agreed, and approved in each country (Palestine, syria, Tunisia, Turkey) - ICPH, occupied Palestinian territory.

4th Annual PMC/ProMAC held in London, UK, to discuss WP6 progress and outstanding topics, and preparation of final report.

Telephone conference call of all partners to further update WP4, WP5 and WP6 progress and draft agenda for MedCHAMPS 4th PMC meeting in January 2012.

Skype conference call of all partners to discuss WP5 paper framework and the integration model; WP6 salt reduction and beyond salt reduction progress of work.

3rd PMC/PrOMAC meeting, held in Izmir, Turkey. Due to the political situation in Tunis in January, the 3rd PMC/ProMAC meeting was hosted by our Turkish Partner at the Dokuz Eylul University. Our thanks are noted, for the short-notice in arranging this meeting. There was also a workshop and discussion focussing on linking WP4, WP5 and WP6.

A Skype call of all Partners to agree to the postponement of the 3rd Annual PMC/ProMAC meeting due to be held in Tunis on 26th-27th January. Meetings were scheduled for 26th and 27th January to update and discuss WP5 and WP6 progress and outstanding topics.

14th December 2010
A conference call of all PMC members, to update on progress of Work Packages, and preparations for the PMC/ProMAC and the WP4 and WP6 workshops in Tunis in January.

6th-10th December 2010
A follow-up workshop for WP4 modellers, to be held in Liverpool, UK. This is a further practical training of MedCHAMPS researchers on the CVD and diabetes models for their own countries, and will cover an update on data collection, identify any remaining data to be collected, and issues not yet resolved, and further training on the models for CHD, diabetes and stroke.

A conference call of all PMC members, to update on reports and deliverables due; to finalise details of the WP4 workshop; and to confirm the date and possible agenda for the annual PMC/ProMAC meeting in January.

22nd September 2010
A telephone conference call of all Partners prior to submission of Form C returns to EU; to review deliverables and reports due; and a follow up of WP5 and WP6 workshops and training.

Workshop on the analysis of WP5 data, Istanbul, Turkey

The programme includes the following elements: identification of codes and themes shared across Partner countries; how to deal with themes specific to certain countries only; intensive practice generating and using codes from interview transcripts and observational data; steps in developing analysis of qualitative data in a comparative cross-national study; implications of WP5 data for DM and CVD prevention/treatment, e.g. integration with WP2-4 findings, and what WP5 provides for WP6; structuring writing of reports.
