I am the project manager for the Gateshead Millennium Study. I have been involved since it began in June 1999 and was the initial recruiter of the families. I have a research interest in child growth including obesity, infant and child eating behaviour, maternal feeding practices and children's mental health and quality of life.
I am responsible for measuring and analysing the physical activity of children in the study. I am interested in exercise and physical activity in general, and particularly to prevent childhood obesity. My previous work looked at the effect of exercise on intestinal cancer.
I am involved in the collection of data from the cohort by visiting them at their schools and colleges and at drop in sessions. My background is in Human Nutrition and I have research interests in dietary intake across the life course, public health and child growth including obesity and its prevention.
I am responsible for data collection which involves seeing Gateshead Millennium Study participants in schools and at drop in sessions and taking their measurements. My main interests are nutrition, public health and dietary assessment and I will be looking more closely at the dietary aspect of the study.
