The aims of the project is to create the circularity within the leek waste by utilising the waste for biomaterial within domestic environment. An additional use circle will influence the efficiency of waste leek and potentially can adopted within similar food waste category: onion skins, garlic, green onion etc., which conceivably will decline the food waste numbers. The interest in leek as possible biomaterial has cultivated due to its popularity in the UK. Leek accounted for 10% of outdoor vegetable grown in UK. The research was focused on performance of the weaved leek in comparison to natural fibres used in construction such as hemp, wool and silk. The photographs present the three different methodology of weaving of leek throughout the experiment. In addition the research was presented as simplified workshop with collaboration of Great North Museum to public to collect the feedback on the appropriation of the material in the household.
