The investigation into 3D controlled deposition for XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) surface testing techniques led to the completion of two main projects. The first project identified and developed a simple modification, for the Thermo Scientific K-Alpha XPS machine, that increases the number of materials that can be deposited onto samples while loaded in the system. The second project investigated the possible use of a Jetlab 4 Inkjet Printer for creating new sample types for the XPS team. Investigations into the printer’s uses led to the development of a MatLab script that increases the feasibility of the Jetlab’s use.
