  • A student partner approach for strategic design and evidence-based evaluation of a novel ORDER artistic learning process for acquisition and retention of anatomical knowledge

Strong anatomical knowledge is an essential requirement for doctors for successful diagnosis and treatment of their patients. This project will investigate medical students’ learning of surface anatomy. The cyclical learning process ORDER (observe-reflect-draw-edit-repeat) has been developed by researchers and student partners at Newcastle University based on experiential learning theory and evidence that artistic techniques can improve learning. Analysis of data to measure the effects of ORDER on medical student learning will provide an understanding of the value of this process and allow me to develop ORDER or other artistic methods with the eventual aim of producing knowledgeable and capable clinicians.
