  • Do the watching eyes enhance people’s pro-social behaviour? Does gaze and gender of eyes affect the probability of donating in a museum setting?

This research seeks to understand how cooperative behaviour is enhanced by cues of being watched and determine how real-world situations can effectively elicit such behaviour. Observations will be carried out in collaboration with The Great North Museum: Hancock. I will concentrate on investigating the effect of the following eye features; the direction of eye gaze and gender of the observing eye, on the probability of making a donation. The reason why these features might be interesting to test is to find out if people are more affected by direct gaze and by eyes of the opposite gender.
