  • Generation and validation of a biological tool to measure intracellular pH in vivo

The best-known means to increase lifespan of organisms from yeast to mammals is by suppressing nutrient-responsive signalling pathways. Intracellular pH has been recently identified as a new approach allowing to control nutrient signalling in cultured cells. Our project will generate the key tool to allow assessing cytoplasmic pH changes in a living laboratory model. This tool will become invaluable for our efforts to validate the hypothesis that treatments inducing changes in intracellular pH may allow to prevent age-related diseases and to extend lifespan.
