Impulsive behaviour is an important trait with regards to development of learned associations between drug-related stimuli and the pharmacological actions of abused substances. What is not clear is the roles of impulsivity in attentional processing since the brain regions mediated this function are very similar. The project aims to examine a sub-chronic exposure of ketamine, known to induce cognitive deficits in rodents for its ability on a rodent version of the Iowa Gambling Task (rIGT). This task normally used for humans to assess impulsive decision making has been recently been established in the laboratory.
