Gabriella Smith is currently studying towards a Masters of Architecture at Newcastle University where she has participated in many international, as well as local design projects. Gabriella’s academic work explores sustainability, poetics and function in the built environment; her theoretical research subjects include the suitability of the ‘Code for Sustainable Homes’ assessment methodology and rural gentrification in UK market towns.
Outside of academia Gabriella has interned at the internationally renowned firm Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects in New York, NY and New Haven, CT as well as gaining experience at smaller firms such as EcoWise and Urban Regeneration in her home town of Norwich, Norfolk. Whilst working towards her Certificate of Architectural Practice Gabriella became a self-employed, construction project co-ordinator helping projects achieve their environmental targets from the initial design through to project handover.
