Eleanor Swain is a researcher within the U-Tec Research group. She is responsible for the review of existing work on the concept of upcycling and the current applications in industry as a means to reduce waste. This review will include issues of social attitudes to resource efficiency, waste, and use of upcycled materials, providing a truly multidisciplinary review. This work will feed into the EPSRC funding proposal which will be main deliverable from U-TEC.
Her educational background was environmental sciences, from which she specialized in soil carbon. She has recently completed her PhD thesis entitled “Molecular Characterization of Terrestrial Organic Carbon in some Organic-Rich Soils in the Northern Latitudes”.
