Katherine Begley

I am currently studying for my Masters of Architecture after completing my undergraduate degree in Architectural Studies at Newcastle University. I have come to Architecture from an Art Foundation background, which is evident from the way I approach projects; initially through photography and material explorations. Using the whole site experience and by examining my photographs, I begin to discover and focus on the essence that had initially inspired me and to which I had instinctively responded.

I believe architecture is about creating successful and relevant buildings that connect and add value within the context of their environment and the boarder community; that are surprising, inspirational and innovative in their structure and material solutions and informed in their response to current issues.

I am excited at the prospect of being involved with the construction of a series of live builds within my studies of my Masters degree and eager to be given the opportunity to fully engage with a range of materials, to explore their aesthetic qualities and realize their true potential.
