Lena was born in Athens at 1953. She has studied economic sciences at the University of Athens (Diploma), studies in economic sciences and computer applications (Betriebsinformatik) at the University of Vienna and took her PhD (Doctorat d' Etat) at the University of Paris II. She also received a Fulbright postdoctoral research award at MIT/Cambridge Massachusetts. Assistant professor at the University of Athens, Department of Economic Sciences, from September 1993, Economic consultant at the Ministry of National Economy 1978-85, Scientific collaborator at the International Institute for Applied System Analysis in Vienna, Human Services and Settlements, 1977-78, Stagiaire at the Commission of the EC 1977. She is married and has two children
Recent publications and scientific research concentrate in the areas of technological change, in particular the role of infrastructure and public policy, while her consulting work refers to the role of technology for regional development and the emerging importance of the information society.

Ioanna is a Research Associate at the Centre of Financial Studies, Athens University. She holds a Master of Science degree in Regional Development from the Institute of Regional Development, Panteios University.
Ioanna has been involved in a number of research projects, related to research policy and regional development studies at the Centre for Financial Studies. She also has extensive experience of working in the private sector, where one of her former positions was as Financial Manager at the Business and Innovation Centre, Epirus Region.
She is currently involved in a variety of projects including, the role of universities in regional development, the impacts on the introduction of the euro on SMEs, montoring innovation and technology policies in Greece, and the RITTS programme on Creta.
