The Network and Energy Conversion and Management (Impact Factor: 4.801) have reached an agreement to publish a special issue in 2017 on ‘Sustainable Thermal Energy Management’. Up to 20 submissions will be considered for possible publication. Authors will submit their manuscripts via Elsevier Editorial System (EES) directly for peer review. The submission site is scheduled to open in December 2016. The work will be presented at SusTEM2017 unless it is rejected.
The Network has also agreed with Elsevier to adopt a new approach known as Virtual Special Issue (VSI) for this special issue. The Network believes that the new approach will benefit all parties greatly, as explained by Elsevier:
A VSI is an online-only grouping of Special Issue articles traditionally assigned to a single Special Issue. Each article in a VSI is assigned a unique identifier and then published in a regular journal issue as soon as available. The unique identifier allows Elsevier to simultaneously add the article to a VSI on ScienceDirect which is gradually built up as individual articles are published online. Articles grouped together in a VSI retain their original citation details… A VSI speeds up the publication of individual articles as, unlike the publication process for conventional Special Issue articles, a VSI does not need to wait for the final article to be ready before publication.
