Background

I come from the north-eastern region of India. I did my undergraduate degree at Cotton University, Assam, before moving to KU Leuven, Belgium for my MSc degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Since April 2024, I'm based at Newcastle University for my PhD in Astrophyics within the SYMPHONY project, led by Dr. Dominic Bowman. In my free time, you'll find me watching football, hiking, trying different beers at the bar, or reading crime thrillers.

PhD research topic

For my PhD thesis I am involved in WPs 1 and 3 of the SYMPHONY project. My research interest revolves around applying different observational methods and statistical tools to better constrain the evolution of massive stars. As part of the SYMPHONY project, I'm working towards understanding the physical origin of macroturbulence using asteroseismology and high-resolution spectroscopy. Besides astronomy, I'm also very interested in data science and machine learning in general.
