As this is a pilot study, it is only taking place in 4 hospitals at the moment:

• Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne (co-ordinating centre)
• Moorfields Eye Hospital, London
• Sunderland Eye Infirmary
• York Hospital

If we find that a full-scale study is feasible then many more hospitals throughout the UK would be involved in the future.

The SamExo trial is registered with the NCTU (Newcastle Clinical Trials Unit) at Newcastle University.
