Sculptures from a Land of Bricks and Termites

Andrew Burton’s most recent project Sculptures from a Land of Bricks and Termites (2007, Northumbria University Gallery) builds on his acclaimed work over the last two years in India and the Netherlands, where he has worked with bricks and other recyclable or ephemeral materials to investigate different ways of representing forms, both in the landscape and in the domestic sphere.  With a strong focus on process, he collaborates regularly with craftspeople, probing the delicate relationship between fine art and craft and looking for ways in which sculpture and craft can inform one another.
