HaSS Pilot Projects
Current call for applications
We have an exciting opportunity for Hass researchers to apply for RSE time to work on short pilot projects interfacing humanities research with computing.
This particular funding opportunity has been offered by the University with the aim of kick-starting grant applications within the HaSS faculty. Researchers will be able to apply for up to three months of RSE time at 0.5FTE to develop a technological solution to the research questions that matter to them. Successful projects will begin on the week beginning 3rd August 2020. You will need to have initial data ready for this date.

In order to apply for our current pilot project call, you need to be an employee of Newcastle University. working in research in the HaSS faculty.
What to expect from us
We can work flexibly to meet your needs. We are anticipating having RSE team members available to work for 3 months half time on your pilot project.
What we expect from you:
• We expect you to have a clear idea of the challenge that you want technology to address. If the project is successful the RSE team will work in collaboration with you to define and develop a solution.
• The proposed research could relate to an area in which the University is world-leading You may wish to highlight this in your proposal, making reference to University strategy and research themes where possible
• You must have a clear plan for how this short project will lead to further funding applications, ideally involving RSE collaboration.
