Professor Margherita Azzari
Margherita is Full Professor in the Department of History, Archaeology, Geography, Art and Performing Arts of the University of Florence, Italy.
Margherita has authored 200 studies on Cartography, GIS, Remote sensing, Environment and Landscape Geography, Geography of Population and Human Mobility, Rural Geography, Historical Geography, History of Cartography, Innovation in Didactics with focus on Geotechnologies applied to the different fields of interest, from environmental monitoring to the historical assessment of a territory.
She is a member of the principal International and Italian Geographical Societies: Association of Italian Geographers (A.Ge.I.), Italian Geographical Society (SGI, vice president), Italian Association of Cartography and Italian (AIC, member of the board), Association of Geography Teachers (AIIG, president of Tuscany section), Association of American Geographers (AAG). A teacher in Applied Geography, GIS and Geography of the Environment and Landscape; coordinator of the Master in Geotechnologies for the monitoring and management of the territory (University of Florence); scientific responsible of LabGeo (Applied Geography Laboratory) and AGJIL (Joint Laboratory with ESRI Italia). She is President of the School of Humanities and Education (University of Florence). She is Director of the scientific magazine Bollettino della Società Geografica Italiana; a member of the Scientific Board of the Bollettino dell'Associazione Italiana di Cartografia and Scientific Director of the scientific series Studi di Geografia applicata.
