Bio

Osman is a fourth-year PhD student in computer science at Newcastle University. His research explores the development of novel visualisation approaches to aid the design, implementation and operation of a large-scale system. Osman holds a Master of Science degree in Advanced Computer Science with merit from Newcastle University and a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Namik Kemal University in Turkey. Osman's doctoral research is being supported by the Ministry of National Education, Turkey.

Research

Osman is broadly interested in how to build a scalable novel graph approach for visualising complex graph-based data, including measures and variance of measures. His dissertation research seeks to examine traditional node-link diagrams for representing bivariate data and to provide an optimal visualisation model that allows users to summarise and explore various kinds of information in the network, exploring an entropy measure of complexity. His MSc project focused on representing glyphs for air quality and TfL buses data and visualising them in 3D maps to accomplish the goal of making a correlation between air quality level and the number of buses going through Euston Road in London.

Teaching

Osman is a demonstrator for a variety of subjects, including Java, Python programming, system security, and data visualisation modules.
