Teaching

Dr. Reichelt is a Lecturer in Epidermal Stem Cell Biology at Newcastle University and teaches on the MRes course Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine. Teaching of the course, at which 37 national and international students attended this year, includes 7.5 hours of lectures, supervision of a 6-month lab-based research project and marking of exam scripts. In addition to PhD and MRes students, we regularly supervise 1-2 BSc students in the lab supporting our research with small projects (2.5-months).

‌‌‌

Student 1: Again another excellent teacher who responded well to questions and stimulated further conversation.

Student 2: An excellent teacher who clearly cares about whether a student understands or not the topic she is teaching. She seems inspired by her work and knows her subject well. However, during the theory sessions it would be very helpful if after each experiment she explains, the overall message was written on a next slide to reinforce the point she is trying to make. Overall, an excellent lecturer nonetheless.

Student 3: Examplary lecturer.

Student 4: One of the best lecturers in the university.

Student 5: She taught the basic and dwelled deeper into the course, very approachable.

Student 6:  Sometimes the lectures were difficult to understand, however the use of the handouts made it easy for me to go back over everything in my own time.

Student 7: Very friendly and very knowledgeable.

Student 8: Very kind, very helpful couldn't have explained things better! loved her style of teaching.

Student 9: Very enthusiastic and encouraging.

The positive feedback from this year’s MRes students survey spurs us further on.

‪Comments from the nominations:‬

‪"Dr. Reichelt is research supervisor for numerous undergrads, masters/PhD students. She is very approachable and helpful. She always has time for everyone no matter who. For this she has my immense respect. I think this suggests she is very committed to her students, and she is generous with her research knowledge. She is always happy to give up her time in order to pass on skills to new students (research skills etc.)."‬
