ReFINE research on the carrying capacity of the land

For the first time the number of shale gas sites that could actually be located above the Bowland Shale has been assessed. From these results the probable amount of gas that could be extracted has been calculated.
The paper, led by Sarah Clancy and published in the journal Science of the Total Environment, concluded that an average of 26% of the shale gas reserve in the Bowland Basin may be recoverable.
