All of us have made at least once a choice that didn’t make any sense when analysed retrospectively. Irrational choices can be and are taken in healthcare as well and we can all think of at least one example when this has happened in our country.

Our project aims to develop a method that would help us make better choices in healthcare by taking into account people’s quality of life.

To do this we need to find out people’s preferences for different health states. We will then analyse these preferences and rank them. The resulting ranking could guide decisions on healthcare resource allocation in our country and could give us more certainty that we’re spending our money correctly. Also, it will help us detect differences in quality of life between different groups of people, such as the majority of the population and Roma communities, so that we can minimize these differences through adequate measures.
