Bridget Kennedy

Bridget Kennedy gained an MA in Fine Art in 2007 at Glasgow School of Art and her BA hons in Fine Art at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in 1992.

Through installation, sculpture, photography and video she investigates the impact and evidence of societal change on the landscapes she encounters. Re-presenting different types of information about these places, she seeks to bridge the gap between conventional forms of knowledge and a more sensory, material experience.

Bridget has shown in a variety of venues throughout the UK, as well as taking her work to Berlin, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Akureyri. In 2011 she worked with Mair Hughes on a project entitled 'Utopian Realism'. This resulted in a residency at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth and shows at Oriel Davies, Newtown and MOMA Wales, Machynlleth.

Working with X10 on a project entitled Power inThe Land saw Bridget engaging with issues of nuclear energy and the land. This work came to fruition just as the last nuclear power station in Wales, Wylfa in Anglesey, shut down at the end of 2015.

She is a member of the Nuclear Culture Research Group at Goldsmiths where she is currently a PhD candidate, studying part time. The working title for her doctoral research is: Awakening the sleeper: creating a new imaginary of nuclear futures via a performative installation practice.
