Objectives
To address our aims and research questions, we outline two objectives that aim to extend empirical understanding of Organisational Social Networks (Brass, 1992; Ibarra, 1993) and Diversity Networks (Dennissen et al., 2020), and generate practical outputs that can positively impact parents and carers organising:
1. Complete a mapping exercise to determine the number of Parents and Carers Networks in UK HEIs and to develop a typology in terms of structures, key practices, resources and outcomes
2. Develop an Organising Model and Toolkit, to assist new and established Parents and Carers Networks to improve their practice, reach and impact, covering areas such as:
a. A toolkit for new and emerging Parents and Carers Networks – outlining different ways of organising
b. Community integration model and strategies. This will enable new and established networks to build organisational reach by, for example, developing links to local carers charities
c. A mentorship framework to connect new networks to more established ones, based on organisational approach and other factors e.g. geography
d. Evaluation framework to enable local Parents and Carers Networks to undertake periodic appreciative inquiry e.g.
different examples of what success can look like
