Heather is investigating the use of Quantum Dots (QDs) as light-absorbing sensitizers to provide an alternative to conventional dye systems in p-type devices.

Her project investigates the methods of deposition and sensitization of QDs on both NiO and alternative p-type semiconductors, the mechanism through which the sensitization occurs, and the charge transfer processes involved in a QDSSC, to understand the fundamental requirements for sustainable tandem cell design.
