Background

NNUTs was born out of an award winning Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) made up of Newcastle University, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and the Northumberland Church of England Academy (NCEA).

The KTP aimed to develop a replicable model of partnership working in the early years settings. The goal was to improve the communication skills and academic attainment of children in an area of social deprivation.

Aim of NNUTS

  • To provide a replicable framework for speech and language therapy services to successfully implement sustained partnership working with educational settings
  • The NNUTs framework can be initiated by an SLT, a speech and language therapy service manager or the educational setting
