Gethin Rees

Dr Gethin Rees is a Lecturer in Sociology with an interest in the use of medicine within criminal justice.  He is particularly interested in raising the profile of the use of documents in social science research and has done this across a range of projects, including studies of doctors performing forensic medical examinations in cases of sexual assault, as well as the delivery of healthcare in police custody environments.

He is currently the Principal Investigator on an ESRC Standard Grant ‘What is Equivalence in Police Custody’ as well as a Co-Investigator on a SSHRC Connection Grant ‘Inaccessible Care: An international forum on sexual assault services in rural Canada and Scotland’.

He is actively seeking PhD students interested in the interdisciplinary study of forensic medicine.
