Charlie Wilkinson

Charlie Wilkinson is the Engagement Support Coordinator in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University. His role supports the active involvement and engagement of the public with the research we do here at Newcastle.

Charlie runs a robust cultural and creative arts programme of activity, collaborating with creative arts organisations and freelancers from around the Northeast to explore the intersection of arts and science. Charlie believes that working with the creative arts is the most impactful way to make science accessible.

Charlie has lead projects including Multiverse Lab, the touring art installation developed to understand people’s health and wellbeing priorities in the Northeast with Unfolding Theatre, which was shortlisted for the engagement and place awards 2022. He has also produced work with Alphabetti Theatre, Mustard Stories Arts, and supported artist residencies with the Newcastle City Council Arts development team to make art and science accessible to communities who need it most.
