Professor Sabrina Qiong Yu
Sabrina Qiong Yu is Professor in Chinese and Film studies and the founder of Chinese Indipendent Film Archive (CIFA) at Newcastle University. She is an expert in East Asian cinema and teaches a range of undergraduate and postgraduate film modules. Her research and publications focus on Chinese independent film and film festival, gender and sexuality, stardom and performance. She is the author of Jet Li: Chinese Masculinity and Transnational Film Stardom (2012) and the editor of Revisiting Star Studies (2017). She regularly curates film festivals/events in Newcastle in collaboration with indie film festivals and film companies in China, and is committed to promoting the exhibition and research of Chinese independent cinema in the UK.
