We have been involved in research studies where we spoke to parents who have suffered the loss of a baby and to health care professionals to find out what we could do to make things better for parents. One thing parents found difficult was that some staff looking after them did not know what had happened, or forgot that it was a twin or triplet pregnancy. Sometimes parents felt that staff treated the surviving baby (or babies) as if they were from a singleton pregnancy. Many parents told us they would have liked us to continue remembering the twin (or triplet) nature of the pregnancy. We are developing information leaflets, video clips and other resources that might help parents. We are also developing the idea of a butterfly logo. We acknowledge that the original idea for this did not come from us - we understand it may have originated in Australia - but as with all of our research projects, one of our important themes is to promote good practice in all areas of neonatal medicine, regardless of who thought up the idea first!
We are very keen to hear from parents about their experience of losing a baby from a multiple pregnancy and to receive feedback, comments and suggestions on our research.

We aim to respond to everyone who contacts us through the website, but time pressures and other priorities mean this might not always be immediate.
