Staff & Capabilities

The Musculoskeletal Research Group is an active group of around 100 staff based in the Institute of Cellular Medicine at Newcastle University.

Here we carry out research to understand the basis of musculoskeletal diseases.

Including clinical studies with our NHS partners at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust.

You can meet the clinical team in Musculoskeletal Research based at the Freeman Hospital.

Many of these musculoskeletal diseases are seen more often in older patients.

Newcastle University carries out world class research into ageing and hosts a purpose-built campus - The Campus for Ageing and Vitality.

In addition, we have close links with the Institute of Ageing & Health and the Institute of Health & Society.

In addition, the team works closely with other hospitals in the region.

With Gateshead, Northumbria, Sunderland, North Tees and others we are working to create a strong regional network of patients and research staff supporting musculoskeletal research.

In addition, you can meet some of our staff and learn more of our facilities at our dedicated Clinical Research Facility or visit the Wilson Horne Immunotherapy Centre.
