Selina Patel is a third year PhD student working on a thesis entitled 'Kept Indoors?: Concubines, Power, and Gender in Late Colonial Bahia, Brazil, 1750-1831’. She has a BA and MA (by Research) from the University of Nottingham. Her current research project and field trips to Brazil are funded by the AHRC.
