Meet the team: Katee Woods
We are delighted to welcome Katee Woods to the team! Katiee is an artist and PhD researcher here at Newcastle University in Fine Art / Digital Media looking at fate and inevitability in AI and technology discourse. As part of her work on this project, Katee will be running a survey for local authorities in Scotland as well as compiling a database of 'meanwhile' spaces, venues and sites.
Katee's creative practice is predominantly new media art, using interactive technologies, digital spaces, screen-based media and sound. Before beginning her PhD, she lived in Glasgow for five years and helped to deliver Europe Beyond Access (British Council), Europe’s largest arts and disability programme.
As a writer, she has published with Corridor8, AI & Society journal, Musicology Research Journal, Moving Image Artist journal, Disability Arts Online, Byline Times, This is Tomorrow, Hypocrite Reader, CultBytes and Institute of Network Cultures.
Her art has featured at the Wrong Biennale, Peckham Creative Computing festival, Cryptic, Digital Mental Health conference, Strangelove Time-Based Media Festival, Radiophrenia, Kelvingrove Museum, NewBridge Project, Aesthetica Art Prize, Christie’s, New Art Gallery Walsall, Friday Island (Luxembourg), Ann St Gallery (New York) and Artech (Portugal).
