Elin is PhD student who started in September 2020 at Exeter University, Camborne school of mines, Penryn Campus. She has interests in Environmental Geochemistry and is a recent graduate at Aberystwyth University with a First Class Honours. Her project will be focusing on mining and landfill wastes on estuaries. One of her sites will be focusing on the Fal estuary, where extensive mining in the past has occurred up the Carnon river. Her project aims include: characterizing the mining and landfill waste (determine the geochemistry (solid and aqueous) and mineralogy (solid)); Conduct experiments to determine the behaviour of the solid samples under different salinity conditions; Conduct modelling to determine (i) the speciation of contaminants in the water samples, (ii) fluxes of contaminants from waste sources to the estuary.)
