He is Professor of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Chartered Geographer, and his main interest is using data to solve problems. He currently leads Newcastle’s Urban Observatory programme, monitoring the city at many scales using the Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. He works widely with researchers from Engineering, Earth Sciences, Computer Science, Biology and Health.
