Dr Diana Contreras Mojica

Dr (PhD) Diana Contreras wrote her Doctoral dissertation on the topic of spatial indicators of recovery after earthquakes in urban areas, the case study area was L’Aquila in Italy. After finishing her doctoral studies, she led the team of Social Vulnerability and Resilience at the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) foundation. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Center for Integrated Natural Disaster Management (CIGIDEN) at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (PUCfor the project:'Social Vulnerability to Natural Hazards and Dependence to Urban Critical Infrastructure: Spatial Model for Drinking Water and Healthcare Systems'. Her Master thesis was the design of a spatial planning support system for building damage survey after an earthquake, having as a case study area Bogotá in Colombia. Before her Master studies, she designed the methodological strategy for the organization of building inspection groups after an earthquake also for Bogotá D.C., Colombia, when she worked as Project Manager Assistant of Preparedness, Emergency Response and Disaster Prevention at the Institute of Risk Management and Climate Change (IDIGER). She has published six papers on the topic of post-disaster recovery after earthquakes in an urban area.
